If you want to keep your lawn healthy and looking great, there may be things that you’re doing that are actually causing your lawn to be less healthy without knowing it.

A recent video from realtor.com outlined the different ways you may be sabotaging your lawn, including:

  • Overwatering. Your lawn needs water to thrive. But when it comes to watering your lawn, “too much of a good thing” definitely applies. If you live in an area that has a decent amount of rain, you only need to give your lawn about an inch of water per week.
  • Planting one type of seed. When it comes to a healthy lawn, variety really is the spice of life. Planting a variety of seeds can make your lawn more healthy, durable and able to weather tough conditions. So when you plant seeds, make sure to choose a mixture.
  • Ignoring the soil. A healthy lawn starts with soil. Make sure to aerate your lawn every year or two. Also, be sure to test the soil periodically to ensure you’re using the right fertilizer.
